De Falla: Cantares De Nochebuena for Voice and Guitar
Regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century, Manuel De Falla (1876-1946) had a distinctively nationalistic style. Cantares De Nochebuena was written c.1903, making it one of his earlier works. It is a collection and arrangement of 9 traditional folksongs for Christmas Eve, originally from the Andalusian region of southern Spain. They were probably gathered in the city of Cadiz. The songs are scored for solo Voice and Guitar. In an attempt to imitate the simplistic nature of the source material, the Guitar part is relatively easy, requiring only a handful of different chords.
