Geneva Psalm 50

Composed in 1948, Kodály's compelling Geneva Psalm 50 uses the original psalm tune as a cantus firmus while adapting the original Calvinist psalter's rhythms to the Hungarian language. In addition to Geneva Psalm 50, he also composed motets from Psalms 114 and 121. Zoltán Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices were published in a new, extended, edition in 2018 (Z. 6725 and Z. 6725A). This volume containing 51 compositions has been edited by the renowned conductor Péter Erdei, one of the most devoted interpreters of Kodály's choral works. The new edition takes into consideration the manuscript sources for the compositions housed in the Kodály Archives in Budapest. Thepublication features new, easily-legible music scores edited on uniform principles. For better readability, the new edition is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions.The present publication is an offprint from the renewed edition of Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices. It has the same format as the volume, and has been printed on excellent-quality pale-yellow paper.

Misztral - 50 Songs - 50 Lieder

The Misztrál ensemble sets to music poems by Hungarian and foreign poets (Baudelaire, Lorca, Villon) and performs folksong arrangements, this publication contains fifty of their songs, in Hungarian, for voices and various plucked, wind, stringed and percussion instruments, with chord notation.

The sonatas are not grouped according to their degree of difficulty, they are given in the order which corresponds with the Kirkpatrick numbering. This is approximately identical with the order in which they were composed. In this way it became possible for the pairs of sonatas included in the selection to be placed closely after one another. Apart from inevitable minor alterations this edition follows the original text and its markings exactly. This does not apply to the fingering which is entirely an editorial addition. (In the original there is no fingering.)

This version of the Hungarian Rhapsodies ensued in 1846-50 from Magyar dallok (Hungarian Songs) Nos 1-11, published in Supplement 7. Piece No. 13 is based on the Rákóczi March, which Liszt set on several occasions. It had been a vital encore piece since his first concert in Hungary in 1839. Inclusion in this volume of the first version of the piece known as the Mosonyi Funeral March (a forerunner of the much later No. 7 in the Hungarian HistoricalPortraits) is especially notable as its autograph manuscript only emerged recently.
