The Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar’s slender branches will certainly be a talking point for visitors – people often comment that it has a ghostly or ethereal feel to it. Often used as a specimen conifer, it is good for creating shaded nooks next to ponds, pools and lakes. It should be staked upright after planting in order to train the branches to droop and to create the popular “waterfall” effect (otherwise they will grow outwards, close to the ground). It grows slower and smaller than its non-weeping cousin, the Blue Atlas Cedar.
