Gypsum blocks or plasterboard walls will not suffice for this purpose. If you plan to fix the unit to a stud wall, certain specifications must be met. Firstly, it's essential to have a piece of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) that is at least 25mm thick firmly attached behind the unit. This MDF backing provides the necessary support for secure mounting. Ideally, the MDF panel should run from the floor to the ceiling, ensuring stability and robustness. However, it is acceptable for the MDF panel to have a minimum height of 2 meters, as long as it offers a solid backing for the unit. In terms of width, the MDF panel should extend over a minimum of three studs. The centers of these studs should be spaced no more than 400mm apart.
