The highly reliable D-A-F has been thestandard for over 75 years. The D-A-F is used for signaling overheat or fireconditions. In most applications the D-A-F provides the initial heat sensingthat is used to activate suppression systems using clean agent CO2 inertgases wet or dry chemicals or water.D-A-F detectors are widely accepted because they aredesigned with rate compensation. This provides a unique advantage over bothfixed temperature and rate-of-rise types of detectors because the D-A-Fdetector accurately senses the surrounding air temperature regardless of thefire growth rate. At the pre-determined set point the system is activated.Fixed temperature detectors must be completely heated to alarm temperature andtherefore a lag in response time may occur with a fast rate fire. Rate-of-risedevices on the other hand are triggered by the rate of increase in ambienttemperature and are subject to false alarms caused by harmless transientthermal gradients such as the rush of warm air from process ovens. The key to the detectors sensitivity is in the design. Theouter shell is made of a rapidly expanding alloy which closely follows changesin surrounding air temperature. The inner struts are made of a slower expandingalloy. Designed to resist thermal energy absorption and sealed inside theshell the struts follow temperature changes more slowly. A slow rate fire willheat the shell and struts together. At the set point the detectorwill trigger actuating the alarm or releasing the extinguishant.A transient rush of warm air up to 40Fmin. mayexpand the shell while not triggering the detector. By ignoring transient warmair excursions the D-A-F detector virtually eliminates false alarms prevalentwith rate-of-rise devices. If a fast rate fire starts the shell will expandrapidly. The struts will close actuating the alarm andor releasing the agent. The faster the fire rate of growth the sooner the D-A-F detector will react.

Vesda Xtralis 250ml Solvent CementSolvent cement welding is a simple and quick means of constructing high integrity leak free joints. Care must be used to ensure that the correct solvent cement is used and that joining instructions are followed properly. This specially formulated solvent cement is used with ABS pipe and fittings to join the surfaces together. The solvent cement melts the two surfaces to form a chemical weld when applied correctly between the fittings.Key FeaturesSolvent cement for ABSContains 250mlProduct InformationSeparate COSHH statement availableIntended usage Jointing of pipeworkPacking 0.25 litre cans Acorn FireConstituents ABS resin dispersed in MethylEthyl KetoneShelf life 12 months minimumPhysical Product DataBoiling Point 80CVapour pressure 100mm Mercury at 25CVapour density 1.18 at 20C 2.4 at boilingpointSpecific gravity 0.86Solubility in Water MiscibleAppearance Grey opaque fluid Strong odourBefore Applying Solvent CementBe aware at all times of good safety practicesSolvent cements are flammableEliminate all ignition sourcesDo not smoke during use and do not expose to other sources of heat or flame in working or storage areasAvoid breathing vaporsUse only with adequate ventilationExplosion proof mechanical ventilation or local exhaust is recommended to maintain vapor concentrations below recommended exposure limitsIn confined areas a NIOSH approved organic vapor cartridge respirator with full-face piece is recommendedCement should be stored in the shade at temperatures between 40F and 110F Acorn FireContainers should be kept tightly closed when not in use and covered as much as possible during useAvoid contact with eyes.Splash proof chemical goggles are recommendedAvoid frequent contact with skinWearing PVA coated gloves and an impervious apron are recommendedSolvent cements have a limited shelf life and must be used prior to the expiration dateRefer to printed warnings on cement can and Material Safety Datasheets for additional informationWARNINGSolvent cement and cleanersARE HAZARDOUSFLAMMABLE MATERIALS.
