Sarcococcas are very easy to look after, and rarely need much in the way of care and attention once established. Plant in a sheltered position in sun or shade in any moist, but well-drained soil. Water plants well in the first year or so, while they are establishing. Thereafter, plants in the ground are only likely to need watering during prolonged periods of very dry weather, unless the soil is very light and very well-drained. Feed every spring with a balanced fertiliser. Those suitable for Camellias and Rhododendrons are a good choice, especially in alkaline soils. Prune after flowering to maintain shape.

Eucalyptus Azura 6.5L (70-80cm)

Eucalyptus are easy to grow provided you give them a sunny, but sheltered position in a moist, but well-drained soil. Water well during the first season, especially if planted in a container. Eucalyptus don’t usually require any fertiliser if planted in the garden, but you may want to add some slow release fertiliser in spring or summer if planted in a container. Pruning can be done to maintain shape, encourage more bushy growth or corrective pruning for badly placed or unstable branches. Most pruning should ideally be done in March/April, but light summer pruning can be done to maintain size/shape. Autumn and winter pruning should be avoided.

Find a sunny spot in the border or position your pot in the sun. Add granular feed to the compost and, once you have planted your Dahlia, water regularly to establish. Make sure to direct your can or hose to the bottom of the plant and really soak it down to the roots. If your Dahlia has large flowers you may need to put stakes in the ground, one per stem and tie the stems to the posts to support the weight of the flower.  As the flowers fade, cut back the stems to a leaf joint, as this will encourage the plant to keep producing new buds. At the end of the season you can leave the Dahlia tuber in the ground if they are planted in a very free draining position and you live in a warmer part of the UK. You will need to cover it with at least 6 inches of mulch, for example bark chippings. You can also dig the tuber up, shake off the excess soil and place it in a dark, dry and cool place for the winter. Surround it with dry material like sand and replant it in the ground once there is no risk of frost in the next spring.

Fatsia are fairly fast growing so can be trimmed in spring and summer to control their size. A general slow-release shrub fertiliser can be applied in the spring to promote healthy growth.
