Founded in 1824 (making it nearly 200 years old) The Macallan distillery is located in Craigellachie, Moray in Scotland. The Macallen is classed as the second or third best-selling single malt scotch (behind Glenfiddich, and perhaps Glenlivet). One of their limited editions, A Night on Earth is an annual release and is a unique expression which is created by carefully balancing exceptional first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels, along with European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks. Its created to celebrate the special time of New Year. A time when people journey to be together, to acknowledge the passing of the old year, and welcome in the new. This edition is created in collaboration with the acclaimed Chinese artist, Nini Sum. It comes with innovative multi-layered packaging that provides an exceptional unboxing experience - perfect as a special gift for a whisky lover, or just as exquisite for the whisky connoisseur to buy for themselves. The artwork on the box ties together the whisky's notes and Nini's cherished New Year memories. Capturing the burst of fireworks, the enticing aromas of toasted oak emanating from rice popcorn vendors on the brightly decorated streets of her town, the milk candy in her pockets and the sweet fragrance of steamed rice pudding beckoning her home. The whisky also has a nuttiness, which is an echo of the sunflower seeds Nini’s family shared as they laughed and talked about their wishes for the new year. The whisky itself has a sunrise golden colour to it, which releases a luscious aroma of toasted oak, steamed rice and oak pudding which is joined by citrus, vanilla and oat biscuits. The palate opens up with a burst of effervescent citrus fruits (lemon and lime) which is joined with flavours likened to a sweet creamy vanilla sponge and toasted coconut.  This leads to a medium finish, which leaves sweet, toasted oak and vanilla on the tastebuds. Two Stacks Irish Whiskey - Dram in a Can In creating Two Stacks, there was a desire to blend not just whiskey, but also the very best of contemporary Irish flavour and the real heritage of distilling. Historically in Ireland, merchants and grocers would blend and age their own whiskey blends. They would select from distilleries and then chose their own casks in which to age. Over the last 150 years this heritage has slowly been on the decline. Two Stacks wanted to change this. Relying on traditional techniques, they chose whiskies, blend and cask. Then through taste and nose they decide when the Whiskey has reached its maturity and then empty and hand label each bottle. For their Dram in a Can Two Stacks wanted to create a truly distinctive Irish Whiskey, but one for the contemporary palate. To do this they created a blend of grain whiskey's aged in virgin oak and bourbon oak casks. A Pot still whiskey which has been aged in Oloroso Sherry Casks. And finishes with a bourbon cask matured double-distilled malt, and a peated malt aged in bourbon casks. On the nose there is a sweetness, joined by warm butter and a hint of peach tea. It is delicately sweet and spicy whiskey on the palate, with blackberry notes, butterscotch and toasted oak. The finish is long, with a playful warm honey note. A bitter liqueur, this drink is normally enjoyed as an aperitif. It's well known by bartenders, and brings a delicious and uniquely bright and herbaceous edge to cocktails and long drinks.  Made using gentian root, it has the unique quality of earthiness, a bitter edge, and floral notes all at the same time. The flavour has a hint of angelica, the renowned gentian bitterness as well as a hint of herbal spiciness. Orange oil and a touch of mint freshen the flavour. V2C Barrel Aged Dutch Dry Gin With their Barrel Aged gin, the latest in their range, V2C have created a gin meant to be savoured. "No rush, no interruptions, no scrolling or swiping. Just truth in a glass that demands your undivided attention". This is a gin which has a juniper-forward flavour profile, amply supported by other botanicals which are angelica, cardamom, coriander, ginger, laurel, liquorice, lemon and orange. After distillation, this is rested on American oak casks for at least six months. This ensures the gin develops some interesting oaky-vanilla notes, and an earthiness. This blend of botanicals, and resting in the barrel gives a flavour of ginger and juniper with a hint of pepper. Cinnamon and a cedar heat from the cask are also joined by a soft caramel sweetness. Laurel and cardamom also come through, but without too much presence. Truly a gin to be savoured, with its multi-faceted flavour profile sure to give full enjoyment in a glass. Heidell Navy Strength Gin 50cl

Heidell Navy Strength Gin Whilst Heidell Gin is a relative newcomer to the gin world, their signature gin has already won a Silver award from the London Spirits Competition. As with its little brother, their Navy Strength is also produced in Naantali, a town located in the Finnish Archipelago - the South West of Finland (west of Helsinki). They utilise as many local ingredients as they can, crystal clear Finnish water, a Dutch still and take inspiration from the Sea - doubly important in a Navy Strength edition. With their Master Distiller being a retired Naval Officer, it should come as no surprise that they would launch a Navy Strength gin. This is the big brother of Heidell Gin, a true handcrafted gin which combines a traditional gin taste - but powered up.... with the aroma and taste of a stormy sea. The aroma is of a classic gin, right from the start with a stronger punch. The notes of juniper and a defined aroma of the sea. On the palate the juniper is pervalent through the drink, giving a delicious dryness. Whilst citrus is present, due to the higher alcohol content its more in the background - and the spice notes come through stronger here. A definite refined and contemporary Finnish Navy Strength gin. Add 50ml of gin, and gently pour over 150 - 200ml of the tonic. Stir gently and garnish with a slice of lemon.

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin Both inspired by, and utilising herbs which are found along the banks of lakes and rivers in Iceland, this is a gin quite unlike anything you will have tried before. Using wild arctic thyme, angelica flowers (not the root!), lemon peel and juniper they blend with a neutral grain alcohol which is sweetened with honey. The aroma of this gin is woody, with a wild nature feel. Think pine bark, sweet dark honey and mosses. The flavour stands out - its proud of itself almost, with a bold flavour with defined spicy notes. The earthy notes detected in the nose come through too. Mid palatte the juniper comes forward with a freshness which is joined with thyme, lavender and a little tarragon. The finish is somewhat bitter from the herbs, with a sweetness which lightens it. It remains on the palate, reminding of the drink. This is definitely a gin which can be drunk slowly and savoured.  Read more about Himbrimi Perfect Serve Whilst this is a sweetened Gin (and therefore defined as an Old Tom), this is distilled with herbs, which blends a degree of bitterness into the end of the drink, similar to an Amaro (Italian sweetened herbal liqueur). Because of this, we really enjoyed drinking this on its own as a digestif. This would also make an interesting addition to a Negroni, bringing a different nuance of herbal flavours. Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin Whilst it gives a striking look to the bottle, there is a reason behind the name of Blind Tiger. Another name for a speakeasy, A blind tiger was a hidden bar which served alcohol during the period of prohibition. The door of the place would have the picture of a blind tiger or a blind pig, so those in the know would know where to go! Blind Tiger's Piper Cubeba gin is made in small batches in a "concealed" distillery in the west of Belgium, they macerate and distill the botanicals together before adding double distilled cubeb pepper. Daring and invigorating, this gin has a unique blend of botanicals, which give it a distinct spicy profile from the cubeb pepper, which is joined with hints of citrus from orange. Unusually, they use malted barley in their distillation along with the required juniper. These are joined with corriander seeds, bitter orange peel, orange blossom, ginger, green cardamom, lavender and licorice, angelica and orris root. Finally, a secret Belgian botanical is added. Definitely a spicy gin, with clear citrus notes. The end finish is spicy too, with the piper cubeb (pepper) coming through as well as a warmth from the malted barley and earthy notes from ginger liquorice and cardamom.   Read more about Blind Tiger Perfect Serve Whilst this is really delicious drunk on its own over ice, having it as a gin tonic brings out a slightly different character. Licor 43 Original This Spanish liquer was first produced by the Zamora family in Spain, Licor 43 has a a history which goes back to 1946. In fact, it was inspired by a golden and aromatic elixir called Liqvor Mirabilis which was banned by the Romans! With the arrival of tourism in the 60's the world discovered Licor 43, and it truly became a taste of Spain to many. Now in the 21st century, Licor 43 is available in well over fifty countries, and is the most international Spanish liqueur.  Licor 43 liqueur is exceptionally smooth, and has a instantly recognisable golden colour. The name hints at the recipe, with there being 43 all natural ingredients involved in its creation.  The bright golden hue of the drink really does reflect its Mediterranean heritage, evoking feelings of sun drenched golden beaches.  Whilst Licor 43 is a secret blend, it has a complex flavour profile. It is sweet, with a strong blend of citrus. There is a mild spiciness, with a touch of coriander, and floral notes from soft orange and lemon blossoms. There are botanical notes, and a hint of fruity warmth from ripe fruit. But for those of you a little more adventurous, or who want to try something new - we have three cocktail options. For a Ginger hit, try a Ginger 43. In a glass filled with ice, add 50ml of Licor 43 and 200ml of Ginger Ale (We like Double Dutch for this). Add the juice of half a lime and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lime. For a deliciously fruity and sweet warm drink (perfect for cold days / evenings), try a Hot Apple 43. Heat 150ml of apple juice with a stick of cinnamon in it (warm it, don't boil!).
