Tanqueray London Dry Gin Dit pakket bevat: 12 x Tanqueray London Dry Gin 12 x 5cl Sinds 2016 is Tanqueray de bestverkochte gin ter wereld, en met een goede reden! Het heeft een geweldige herkomst en werd voor het eerst gedistilleerd in 1830 door Charles Tanqueray & co in de wijk Bloomsbury in Londen. Ditzelfde recept wordt tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds over de hele wereld gebruikt en gevierd. Hoewel het oorspronkelijk in Londen werd geproduceerd, wordt het nu in Schotland gemaakt en is het merk eigendom van Diageo plc. Een echte London Dry gin (wat verwijst naar het distillatieproces), het is dubbel gedistilleerd met alleen graanalcohol en er is een geheime mix van plantaardige ingrediënten toegevoegd tijdens het tweede distillatieproces. Deze zijn niet allemaal bekend (anders zou het niet echt een geheim zijn...), maar het bevat wel vier van de "gewone" gin botanicals, namelijk: Jeneverbes (een 'must have' in gin!), Koriander , Engelwortel en Zoethout. Deze zijn allemaal helder en knapperig van smaak, maar geen enkele is te overweldigend. Dit maakt het een echt klassieke gin, maar met een duidelijk randje waardoor het zijn best verkopende plaats in de wereld heeft behouden! In de neus is dit echt aromatisch en brengt tonen van cederhout, dennenachtige jeneverbes en een vleugje citrusschil. In de mond komt de jeneverbes echt op de voorgrond en wordt vergezeld van heerlijke verfrissende sinaasappel- en citroenschil, een vleugje anijs en een vleugje kruiden. Het eindigt met een uitstekend romig mondgevoel, dik met jeneverbes. Meer van Tanqueray Perfect Serve Dit is een van die drankjes die het best klassiek gedronken kan worden, in een heerlijk verfrissende gin-tonic. We denken dat dit heel goed werkt met Fentimans Tonic Water. Voor een vleugje extra pit werkt het ook uitzonderlijk goed met hun tonic Valencian Orange. Neem een groot glas (idealiter een copa/ballonglas) en vul met ijs. Giet er 50 ml Tanqueray in en giet er voorzichtig 150 - 200 ml van het door u gekozen tonicwater bij. Voeg een partje limoen toe (indien met een klassieke tonic), of sinaasappel indien met de Valenciaanse sinaasappel. Dit is ook echt een goede aanvulling op je drankencollectie, omdat het net zo goed werkt in de mix - zoals in een Martini- of Negroni-cocktail.

Hennessy VS Cognac The history behind Hennessy goes back to 1765. It was an Irish Jacobite officer who had served in the army of Louis XV that started the Hennesy Cognac Distillery. He had retired in the cognac region where he setup the distillery and began exporting his products to the UK and Ireland. Now known as one of the 'big four' cognac producers in the world (who between then produce around 85% of the world's cognac). Hennessy is the largest of the four, and produce around 70 million bottles of cognac a year. In fact, it was in 1840 that Hennessy became the worlds leading exporter of Brandy, and to this day have not lost that title. Being a type of Brandy, Cognac falls under the French appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) which means there are strict requirements to be called Cognac. These include twice distilling specific grape varieties in copper pot stills and aging for a minimum of two years in Limousin or Tronçais oak casks. The VS (very special) designation denotes that the youngest brandy within the blend has had the minimum two years in casks (it is always the youngest brandy in the blend which gives the designation).  Hennessy VS Cognac is a blend masterfully created from over 40 different eaux-de-vie. It is the Master Blender who oversees this process to ensure the quality.  The result of this blending and knowledge is a full bodied cognac. With a renowned smoothness, and a touch of sweetness it has distinct spice notes. The aging in wood gives a light nuttiness to the cognac, which join with flavours of rich dried fruits and berries. These are all rounded out by warming vanilla. Interesting fact: In 1813 Jean Fillioux was appointed Master Blender. A member of the Fillious family has kept this role ever since - more than 250 years and a total of eight generations!
