Gears of War 4 is the fourth full-fledged installment in the cult series of futuristic TPP shooters. The title was produced by The Coalition studio (formerly Black Tusk), founded by the long-time producer of the series, Rod Ferguson. Story Gears of War 4 takes place on the planet Sera 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3. As a result of the war with the Locusts, the world changed dramatically and powerful storms began to rage on it. Accordingly, people now live in special fortress cities, protecting them from dangerous weather conditions and creatures inhabiting the planet. The story tells about the adventures of three characters: son of Marcus Feniks - JD Feniks, Kait Diaz and Delmont "Del" Walker. The first joined the COG, where he served with the latter, but as a result of a certain situation both had to leave the ranks of the organization and go to the so-called Outsiders, a kind of guerrilla faction of the COG, stationed outside the city walls, where Kait comes from. Now a group of young soldiers has to face a great danger. Interestingly, old heroes also appear in the production, including the main hero of the original trilogy Marcus Feniks and his companion Augustus Cole. Gameplay Gears of War 4 is a third-person shooter with a cover system that largely resembles what we dealt with in the previous installments of the series. The developers, however, took care of some improvements, including a better and more dynamic cover system, allowing e.g. to use the elements of the environment during the fight (you can, for example, an opponent behind an obstacle, knock a fragment of the ceiling on his head) or attack enemies with a knife. The biggest news, however, is related to the weather system. Storms raging on Serze are divided into four categories, the last two of which largely affect the course of the fight. A strong wind can, for example, increase the range of a projectile or change its direction. In turn, the strongest winds force us to fight for survival, because lightning starts to shoot from the sky, which should be avoided, etc. Gamemodes The production of The Coalition studio offers not only a single player campaign, but also multiplayer modes. Although the previous installments of the series focused on multiplayer fun, it was only in this part that it was applied to it as much as in the single player mode. In addition to the versus variant, Gears of War 4 also offers a two-person local co-op. An important element of the production is the struggle in the Horde mode. This form of gameplay has been known to fans of the series for a long time, but special portable bases have been introduced in the three. They allow you to create various elements, such as metal spikes to be scattered on the ground, which can facilitate the fight against the advancing waves of enemies (there are 50 rounds in total). You buy them for parts dropped by defeated enemies.
