Desperados III is another installment of the famous tactical strategies. This time the game was created by Mimimi Productions, a studio known for creating the very positively received game Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. The game puts the player at the head of a five-person gang, performing various tasks in the Wild West.
Story
The story presented in Desperados III is a prequel to the first game in the series, Desperado: Wanted Dead or Alive, and brings us closer to the past of the game's main character, John Cooper. The game is set in the 1870s. After recruiting several members to his gang, Cooper and his new companions embark on a dangerous journey across the Wild West, taking on the most dangerous challenges. During the adventure, players will visit many diverse locations such as Louisiana, Mexico and Colorado.
Gameplay
During the gameplay, players take control of 5 members of a gang consisting of: John Copper, Hector Mendoza, Doc McCoy, Isabelle Moreau and Kate O'Hara. The main gameplay mechanics were inspired by the first game in the series. As in the original Desperados, missions take place on relatively small maps where players must command each team member to complete the mission objective. Coordination between each member of the group is crucial, as teamwork is the key to success. Although players can create their own tactics, and the game does not limit this in any way, most of the time the enemies will have a significant advantage and it is best to take up stealth. It is worth mentioning that each character has a unique specialization and skill set.
Heroes
John Copper is a gunfighter who can use two guns simultaneously and shoot enemies with the speed of a rattlesnake. Doc McCoy is a sharp sniper and can heal his comrades' wounds, Hector Mendoza is a bruiser who has a knack for hunting, creating traps, etc. Isabelle Moreau knows the secrets of voodoo magic and can influence the minds of her enemies, while Kate O'Hara is an attractive woman who can distract any guard and has the ability to create disguises and infiltrate hostile locations. The game features a so-called Showdown mode, which allows the player to stop time and plan the actions of each team member. Thanks to the incredible tactical freedom, each mission can be performed in multiple ways and the game is highly replayable. Additionally, the game includes a number of challenges, such as completing missions in a limited time or without killing anyone.
