Dying Light 2 is a first-person action game with an open world in which we travel through a city overrun by zombies. The production is a continuation of the hit Dying Light from 2015. We will find there both a single-player story mode and a multiplayer mode. The Polish studio Techland is responsible for its creation, apart from Dying Light, known e.g. from Dead Island or shooters from the Call of Juarez series. Dying Light 2 takes place 15 years after the end of the first part, in a completely different place - an unknown European metropolis. The general outline of the plot is similar. It's a story about a human community struggling to survive in a city overwhelmed by an epidemic of a virus that turns people into zombies - with the undead becoming much more dangerous as darkness falls. Importantly, the creators decided not to tell one main story this time - instead, they focused on the so-called narrative sandbox in which we build our own story out of various events shaped by the choices made. The developers approached this element of the game with great attention - they hired, among others, a true story expert in RPG games, Chris Avellone (including Planescape Torment, Fallout: New Vegas or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II). In Dying Light 2 we explore a vast city occupied by hordes of zombies, as well as groups of often much more dangerous people. The world is four times larger than the one known from the first part. Like its predecessor, the production has an extensive melee combat system, allowing, among others, dismembering enemies (we can also shoot, but the use of melee weapons is the basis of the game), and complex crafting mechanics - you can add several dozen different effects to the weapon you create. This title also has a rich parkour-style movement, which depends on our hero's stamina bar (all actions require it - even simply sticking to the edge of the roof). In the "two" there are twice as many animations related to jumping, running and other breakneck manoeuvres. The creators also took care of environmental puzzles based on acrobatics, requiring proper route planning. Dying Light 2 features a day/night cycle that affects the behaviour and strength of enemies - zombies become much more dangerous after sunset, so check your watch and be careful when exploring the city. In addition, Techland studio placed great emphasis on making the player's choices and actions affect the state of the game world. The developers also improved the AI of the opponents, who can now change the fighting style during the fight. In Dying Light 2 we can play alone or in the company of other players. The biggest attraction of the game is the cooperative mode for up to four people. There is also a traditional multiplayer based on competition. Dying Light 2 is based on a modernized version of the Chrome Engine, called C-Engine. Thus, the game has a very attractive three-dimensional graphic design - both the city and models of characters or monsters have been prepared with great attention to detail, and the views from the tops of tall buildings can be breathtaking. The realistic shading and lighting systems also make a great impression.
