The Italian community of Banzi and the Greek colony of Tarentum, with their respective charters engraved on bronze in the first half of the 1 st century BC, are the main subjects of this study. These local charters are the oldest of this kind discovered in Italy to date. They contain legal provisions relating to the administrative and judicial field of the two centres. The two leges have long been known about but, in this book, they are presented for the first time together, translated, annotated and analysed with regard to the specific historical and political context of the two communities. Moreover the research takes into account other recently discovered epigraphic evidence, which has improved the understanding of many aspects of the two charters and in some cases has led to different interpretations from those made to date. The book is written in Italian.

In an aim to promote an interdisciplinary and intercultural scientific dialog young graduates of diverse disciplines have tackled the task of intensive investigation into «cultures in dialogue» as it relates to issues of international as well as regional relevance. In an attempt to motivate dialogue across language barriers all contributions provide abstracts in the three languages: German, Italian and English. The descriptive part of the collected edition provides an overview of diverse aspects of the phenomenon of a multicultural society in South Tyrol. The constructive aspect of the volume pursues the following goal: it creates moments of encounter, of intersubjective as well as interdisciplinary dialogue and lays the basis for a theoretical foundation of practical forms of dialogic problem analysis and problem solving.

Et in Arcadia ego. Roma come luogo della memoria nelle culture europee • Et in Arcadia ego. Rome as a memorial place in European cultures - - Bog -

Et in Arcadia ego is what Goethe writes after his journey to the city of Rome, to denote the ideal Arcadia for writers, artists and intellectuals of modernity. The present collection comprises chapters dedicated to the figure of Rome as an Arcadia-city: like ideal consular roads, these papers develop into varied thematic branches, even though they all have the same starting, or ending, point – the city of Rome, analyzed from the point of view of its architectural, historical or symbolic value. One ideal “road” of discussion starts in Poland, another “road” passes through England, a third ideally combines Greece and Russia; yet another ideal discussion “road” originates from the ancient Roman myths, runs through the 16th century and reaches the fin de siècle and the 20th century.

Democracy and Media in Central and Eastern Europe 25 Years On - - Bog - Peter Lang AG - Plusbog.dk

This book is a collective effort of scholars who elaborate on democracy, civil society and media-political relations in Central and Eastern Europe. The authors look at both theories and practices of media systems and democracy. They indicate problems, risks, challenges related to political transformations, the public sphere, journalism culture and media freedom. All of this while bearing in mind the growing role of new media, civic engagement in the online space as well as societal changes that Central and Eastern European democracies are going through in the second decade of the 21 st Century. This book is a helpful companion to media and communication scholars as well as students of journalism and political science, media practitioners and policy makers in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. «A well-documented book on the mass media in a little explored area: Central Eastern Europe. Four models of media and politics are presented opening the floor for a wider scholarly debate.» ( Paolo Mancini, Università di Perugia, Italy ) «This volume meets the continuing need to make sense of the changing worlds of journalism, journalists, and media. Each of the ten contributions is a well conceptualized, researched and thought out assessment of the pertinent issues and a springboard for further evaluations and model building. A great addition to the classroom and scholarship.» ( Peter Gross, The University of Tennessee, USA )
