The vast musical production by Darius Milhaud (Marseille, 4 September 1892–Geneva, 22 June 1974) is made up of more than 450 titles, including theatrical works, ballets, stage and choral music, vocal and instrumental compositions, as well as chamber and piano music. The guitar, on the other hand, occupies only a marginal place, with one short composition, written in 1957, entitled Segoviana. The Andalusian guitarist Andrés Segovia (1893–1987) was not only its dedicatee but its protagonist, seeing that the piece was conceived in his image. The present edition, edited by Frédéric Zigante, differs from the first one of 1959 for a layout that makes reading easier and the addition of fingering indications.

Carlos Léon Salzédo: Variations sur un Thème dans le Style ancien, 3 Pièces (Harp solo)

Variations Sur Un Thème Dans Le Style Ancien  by Carlos Salzedo is the third and final work of a series called “Three pieces” for solo pedal Harp. Difficult to play, it is rated 8° and requires good mastering of the instrument and of its technique, including the pedals. Using the full range of the instrument, this work features numerous trills, glissandos and accidentals among other technicalities and is divided between really fast and more quiet parts. Really delightful, this melodious piece is composed of a main theme and eleven variations:  Main Theme (Maestoso) is composed of chords I. A tempo, Graziamente II. Tempo di Bourrée III. Scherzando IV. L’Istesso tempo V. Maestoso VI. Vigorosamente VII. Molto piú lento VIII. Vivo risoluto IX. Lento, tempo di Barcaruola X. Como un preludio XI. Fuga Finishing on the main theme a Tempo, this wonderful work is an amazing piece to include in a concert or a recital. Carlos Salzedo (1885-1961) was a French harpist and composer who wrote and transcribed numerous pieces for the Harp. He also wrote some pedagogical publications for harpists.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Menuet de Duport (Classiques No.80) (Flute & Piano)

Number 80 of the collection "Classics for Flute" by Marcel Moyse, Minuet Of Mr. Duport is a piece initially composed by Mozart and arranged for Flute and Piano accompaniment. The main theme starts with a Tempo di Minuetto, which is then followed by four variations and a final part Allegro ending up with a Cadenza. Quite amazing, this piece is difficult to play and will fit upper intermediate players. It is a great piece to listen to that would definitely work well in a concert or in a recital.

Eugène Bozza: Dialogue (Trumpets 2)

Dialogue by Eugène Bozza is a piece for two Trumpets, lasting three minutes. Sounding really majestic, this work exhibits the two Trumpets having an exchange, like a dialogue. The piece is divided into three movements: Allegro Mastoso (4/4, tempo 120) – Moderato (4/4, tempo 80) – Tempo di Marcha (2/4, tempo 120). This piece is a great work to play during a recital. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin, conducting and composition, as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets among others.

Henri Tomasi: Suite (Trumpets 3)

Suite is a piece for three Bb or C Trumpets composed by Henri Tomasi in 1964. This unusual suite lasts approximately 8’30 minutes. It is divided into three main parts: 1. Havanaise at a Tempo di Habanera, 2. Lento égéen and 3. Danse Bolivienne. The Havanaise is made of a danse part and a more melodious one. Its dialogue in between the Trumpets creates a counterpoint. In the second part, the three instruments alternate the theme with small variations and the last part, “3. Danse Bolivienne”, is a toccata. This book features score and parts for Bb and C Trumpets. Henri Tomasi was a French composer, conductor and winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1927. He also composed a variety of concerti for Alto Saxophone and for Trombone, as well as some ballades.

Marcel Poot: Terzetto (Clarinets 3)

Belgian composer, Marcel Poot (1901-1988) was a professional composer, professor and musician. He studied at the Belgian Conservatory and went on to attain success as an organist and composer. His substantial compositions for wind and brass are still performed to this day, Trio for 3 Clarinets being no exception. In 1925, Poot and several of his contemporaries founded 'The Synthetists', a group to rival 'Les Six' in France. They wished to inject dynamicism in to the conservative Belgian music scene through the composition of modern pieces. Trio for 3 Clarinets reflects this, whilst maintaining recognisable musical elements. Poot 's Trio is made up of three movements; 1) Allegretto grazioso, 2) Tempo di Barcarola, and 3) Allegro giocoso. For advanced clarinetists, Poot 's Trio for 3 Clarinets is an exciting addition to the ensemble repertoire.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: 3 Cadenzas by P.Taffanel & P.Gaubert for Concerto KV313 (Flute solo)

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's (1756-1791) Flute Concerto In G was written by the composer in 1778. The Concerto remains widely studied and performed on the Flute, making it one of the most important Concerti in the instrument's repertoire. Paul Taffanel and Philippe Gaubert 's composed cadenzas for the work are essential to all performers of the concerto. Concerto In G is in three movements; 1. Allegro maestoso, 2. Adagio ma non troppo, and 3. Rondo: Tempo di Menuetto. The first and last movements are in the tonic key, whilst the second movement is in the subdominant key of D major. All three movements contain a cadenza which initially would have been left for the performer to improvise. However, cadenzas have since been written, including those of Taffanel and Gaubert. Both were prominent flautists of their time and their understanding of the Flute concerto repertoire is second to none, making their cadenzas well-informed and essential to performers of the concerto.
