The inspiration for the lamp comes from Japanese rice paper, which can be seen in the lamp's design with 12 identical spiral-shaped aluminum slats, which give the lamp a flower-like appearance. The slats shield the lightbulb and thus prevent glare. Furthermore, the slats are vertical and thus prevent dust from settling.
